Agadir in 2 Days: Enjoy The Neverending Beaches Of Our Riu Agadir Hotels

Drenched by the Atlantic Ocean but protected from the currents by a bay, the beach of Agadir is one of the most highly-prized in Morocco. That on top of the hospitality of the locals, the area's rich culture and the marvelous interior oases, this is the country's main beach destination where one can unwind without losing sight of the charm of Arab culture. 
Taking advantage of its fantastic beach is the top priority of most of Agadir's visitors. Agadir has a long urban beach with warm, golden sand where you will find everything you need to stretch out and relax and practice all types of water sports. However, if you also want to get to know the city and soak up the amazing Moroccan culture, we suggest you take a walk to some of its main points of interest.

Day 1: Exotic Spots in Agadir

Since time immemorial, the region's commercial activity has been structured around its port. Visiting the port is a fabulous experience where today fishermen arrive with their catches, fish in the waters nearby and work in its shipyards. Early in the day you can see them off and then sit in one of the neighborhood cafes. Afterwards, you can stroll down Boulevard Hassan II, a modern promenade or meander through the cobblestone streets of the Medina quarter, full of arches and facades decorated in genuine Arabic style, where you will find craftsman working with leather, glass and wood using traditional techniques. This area was rebuilt in the seventies, after an earthquake shook the city. During your walk through Agadir, you must not miss its central marketplace or souk, whose colors, smells and activity will transport you to the essence of Morocco. Right next door you will find the Bert Flint Museum which contains a marvelous collection of local antique crafts which are quite interesting to compare with those you will have found in the souk.

We also recommend you head to the top of the hill where you will find the remains of the Kasbah, the old fortress which protected the city, and take in its splendid views.

And, if you would like to get to see more of this exotic place, visit the Olhao garden in the city's center or the small zoo known as the "Valley of the Birds" which is free to visitors. In addition, for anyone who enjoys visiting mosques two of the most visited, the Mohamed V and Loubnane mosques, are a must see.

Day 2: The Best Excursion from Agadir

You may want to spend a day exploring Agadir's beautiful surroundings. You have multiple options from which to choose, including visiting fishing villages, areas of the nearby Sahara desert, exotic and deserted beaches… however, if we had to select one excursion, we would suggest heading towards the Atlas Mountains, to the Tamraght Valley, famous for its waterfalls which, even if you visit in the summer when there is little water, are remarkable. The trip to the central region, Imouzzer Ida Outagane, will take you through rural areas and Berber villages, and ultimately to a beautiful area known to many as “Paradise Valley”.
